I told my mother I'd gather all our cd's and other music, and compile a playlist with "upbeat/happy/party" type music.

while I knew that I'd be asked to pull the Japanese music out of the list, it still irks me.

there's some damn fine Japanese songs out there that fit that theme

of course, once I've gathered all the music, and eliminated all the slow/sad/sappy songs, if the total left is high enough, I fully intend to pick out a few Japanese songs and slip them in. >:) if the playlist is long enough, and on shuffle, I can claim I accidentally missed removing it, right?!?

I play it regularly in my master playlist, and sometimes in playlists of specific anime soundtracks, but no, I've never specifically sat her down and said, here, you should listen to this song and give it a try, its nice, even if you can't really understand the lyrics.

while the rest of my family is kinda of used to the fact that I like music, no matter the language, they still get some sort of weird thing about listening to it themselves.

Maybe you should try doing just that. Pick out a couple of things you think she might actually give an honest chance. Never know...

I plan to, as long as the number of available other songs is fairly high. right now there's only about 180 songs in the playlist, so they'd be more noticeable in the mix.

I have to get mom and dads cds from them and start re-ripping music onto my computer, I lost it all the last time my computer crashed, sadly.
