Why is it that they always seem to save the worst tasting envelope glue for the special envelopes?
earlier this evening, our father was sitting at the table watching me and my brother and his family eat dinner, when he asked if we'd gotten our mother anything for mothers day.
I was somewhat of a smart ass and replyed with "My Love and Affection"
no, really, it's what I give her every year, I'd love to give her more, but I'm dirt poor, and my money sadly has to go to other things before I'm able to buy gifts.
but I do make her a corsage, one for her and one for my grandmother, though I'm never quite sure what my grandmother makes of them....she and I have a strage relationship.
my father threatened to disown me and my brother if we didn't go out to th store that minute, to which my sister in law called his bluf and said no he wouldn't.
he agreed, he wouldn't, but he'd make our lives very difficult for at least 2 weeks......
*shrugs* I suppose I'm also of the view that the holiday is a bit comercialized. yes I think that mothers should get recognition for what they do, but not with haveing to put thier children into bankruptcy, and it almost seems thats what people have to do anymore, kind of dissapinting.
*yawns* I don't think I'm argueing my points very strongly, I think bed is a good idea.

Date: 2007-05-13 02:37 pm (UTC)A corsage is a gift. You don't have to buy something for it to be a gift. You're giving them the of your time. *shrugs* When I lived at home I would make my mom a homemade card and clean the house as her gift. heh

Date: 2007-05-13 03:37 pm (UTC)but I also prefere my father off my back, mostly cause I only see him on weekends most of the time, and I'd prefere not haveing him "be difficult" whatever he might feel fits into that.
so last night, my sister in law remembered the convorsation my mother had with our aunt about spa's, and we all went in together (so my father's paying my share, he said he'd give me money if he had to, it's his fault)and got her a nice spa package, and she dose deserve that, cuase she's a nurse, and she's on her feet for 12+ hours every day she works.
but after we found that I got her a bag of sugar free candy and a card.....*shrug* it's cute.
