Adventures in dog-sitting

shinelumiereI spent the last week watching my younger brothers dog. When I say adventures, I mean it. She's a Siberian Huskie, which I may or may not be misspelling but that's ok. Among other things, we I figured out that if I should ever watch this dog again, it will work out alot better if I go stay at my brothers house with the dog, because she spent much of the time here, trying to mark territory rather than just going potty and she ended up peeing on the floor often, despite how many times I took her out. I also found out that the previous owners claim that she used to catch rabbits all the time was quite true, and that she's exceptionally good at it, I lost count of the field mice she caught on our walks, but despite not eating her food most of the time, she did anything but starve while she was here...
Nali's two favorite places to lay. She wasn't allowed in the living room by mom, so it stayed gated off while she was here.
She looked so sad and lost when she'd curl up in that little space, but she seemed to like it *shrug*
The only time that I would let her into my room was when I was actually in it myself. Every time that I would let her in, she had to check under the bed to see if one of the cats were hiding out under it. While she figured out they hide there pretty quickly, the cats also figured out just as quickly that she knew, and could get under there as well ;)
Duchess pretty much stuck to the living room....
In fact, Duchess would often sit in front of the gate, just to taunt Nali in a way. Fair trade really, given nali would chase them every time they came out of the living room; and Nali was out of her cage.
Puddums secondary refuge out of the living room was my windowsill; this made it hard for me to focus on what I was working on, given that she would sit and hiss for a good 20 minutes....
The cats are still actually rather afraid to come out, but then Nali's only been gone a day.
Also, I did in fact change my layout again, but just a color change, still roughly the same header, and added in a bg. The orange was starting to make me twitch every time I opened my LJ. Sorry to anyone who was enjoying it.

Date: 2011-07-08 04:48 pm (UTC)as for the cats, yeah. they've gotta make sure I'm not tricking them, and that the dog is lurking around some corner. so far they think the kitchen and living room are fairly safe, but they've still been avoiding my room, though Puddums is currently sniffing things out in my closet.
it's fun to watch and imagine what they're thinking.
