Put your iTunes on shuffle and make a list of the first 25 artist's - to see your different music taste.

This first list I put together using my entire music library. It's not a very accurate result based on that, given that I've copied the majority of the CD's belonging to my younger brother and his family, not to mention my parents CD's as well. So, I have a lot of music, but it's not all necessarily to my taste ;) This did show me that I have music I like, but forgot I had though.

1. Tenacious D.
2. Jim Brickman.
3. Gin Blossoms.
4. Santana.
5. Hot Water Music.
6. Goo Goo Dolls.
7. Hollies.
8. Brand New Heavies Feat. Jamalski.
9. Mariah Carey.
10. Supertramp.
11. Sailor Moon.
12. Bruce Springsteen.
13. Soundgarden.
14. (Mamagubida 07) Tryo - La misére d'e [Song Title - artist not listed].
15. Metallica.
16. Eve 6.
17. Martina McBride.
18. Various Artists[I've got more of those than I thought...].
19. Charlie Rich.
20. John Lennon.
21. Blue Man Group.
22. A*Teens.
23. Baha Men.
24. Bing Crosby.
25. Eminem.

This list I made using my "Master" playlist that I listen to when I'm not looking for a specific artist/song/mood. Right now this playlist has 591 songs, and is a much more accurate sampling than the 9484 songs/other stuff in my library.

1. Queen.
2. Baha Men.
3. Ray Stevens.
4. Smashmouth.
5. Sharpay & Ryan.
6. Stevie Nicks.
7. Train.
8. Lit.
9. Grace Potter & The Nocturnals.
10. The Doobie Brothers.
11. Coldplay.
12. Matchbox Twenty.
13. Jonas Brothers.
14. Aaliyah.
15. Jessica Simpson.
16. Hannah Montana.
17. Pointer Sisters.
18. The All-American Rejects.
19. Nick Lachey.
20. The Ditty Bops.
21. Weird Al Yankovic.
22. Ash.
23. Jeff Foxworthy.
24. Porcelain Black.
25. Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Even though the second list is more accurate, I do think that specific songs give more away about a person's music tastes, but since most artists tend to have a similar sound across their works, I suppose it works well enough.

Your list is funny to me because its half preteen raging hormones and half early eighties southern rocker (which is awesome, I have Lynard Skynyrd too. Free Bird!!!). Oh lolz.

I'll do it with my iPod, which doesn't have all my music but does have what you refer to as "your master list", around 500 songs (and one movie).

1. Enigma
2. Pink
3. Kid Rock
4. Guided By Voices
5. Uncle Kracker
6. Santana
7. Linkin Park
8. Michelle Branch
9. Natasha Bedingfield
10. Dixie Chicks
11. Dire Straights
12. Meredith Brooks
13. Alizee
14. Death Cab For Cutie
15. B.O.B
16. Jewel
17. Nickel Creek
18. A-kon
19. Matchbox 20
20. Beyonce
21. Hinder
22. Blue October
23. Flo Rida
24. The Killers
25. Nickelback

I did have to do some skipping because I kept getting Pink, Nickel Creek, and Uncle Kracker.

Mine is.. well, a lot more pop chicks then I thought (and one of them is French!), some rock and r&b and a little folk sprinkled in. All in all, not surprising.

heh. my master list is actually labeled that in my iTunes, cause I have lists for albums, and for compilation cd's I've made for people.

my last two with the one on my master list, I got duplicate artists and I had to skip as well.

I'm still trying to get hold of my other siblings CD's, as well as the rest of the stuff my younger brother has, but it's the stuff they keep in the car, so they forget about letting me hold them more easily.

I'm still in the process of adding the rest of my CD's to my library. I had them all on there before but when my mother's old system kicked the bucket, it kinda of messed with my master list. We got most of the songs on the external hard drive but not everything made it on there. I'm just grateful that the songs I actually purchased from iTunes was alright or I would have screamed. I don't even want to discuss the amount of money I've wasted shopping on iTunes.

I agree, I was ever so glad that I had a back up of the stuff I've purchased on iTunes, cause as you said, the amount of money put into it, for a digital file....yeah.

supposedly apple is working on getting the rights to allow people to re-download music that they've previously bought from iTunes, should something like that happen to them, but I'm not sure where they are with that.
