So, after I left the FAP chat last night the power managed to stay on the rest of the night, naturally, after I'm going to be and not trying to do anything that requires power...
Granted Irene didn't leave a huge mess for us as compared to other areas, but com'on, we'd just mowed the lawn babe. Ah well.

The backyard here was mostly just covered in leaves scattered all over, most of the brankches that fell were small, and most of them were in the front yard.

Also in the back yard were the Chestnuts. The buggers. they hurt like the dickens to step on, and aren't much better when picking up. We let them dry out and then suck them up with the mower, cause it's darn near impossible to dig those spines out once they've gotten into your skin.

I'm kinda surprised that the storming didn't knock more of them off the tree, but there's still a mess of them still on the tree as you can see.

Yes, I know I just said above their buggers to touch, but I was extremely slow and easy about picking this one up. once they dry up, they'd make a heck of a weapon to hurl at someone. We've tried to gather the nuts out of the middle, but theres this type of fly that likes to lay their eggs in them, and while you can cut those parts out, it's more pain than its worth.

and while our creek has been fuller before, this is still fuller and faster than normal. We could really use a bush trimmer for the left bank, then we'd be able to work out a better path down into the acctual creek bed its self.
I just love the sound of the creek! Though Irene had mostly left our area, we were still getting the tail end of the southern bands, so we still had some good winds going, and random drizzles. The left bank shown in the picture above is the highest point in our yard, so the winds are felt and heard the most up there, and they were fighting to overpower the sound of the creek on my camera.
Now I need to get to bed, I'm watching my nephew Linus tommorow, and he's spending the night tonight. There is not much cat-napping while he watches a movie, Linus don't play like that XD.
