It's been a long week...
Nov. 14th, 2011 12:11 amGrand-mom fell (late Monday night/early Tuesday morning, if you missed my "crap crap crap" post), or something(they're really not entirely sure what she did) that she ended up passed out on the floor at the bottom of the stairs to the basement...an experience I don't want to relive anytime soon, grand-mom or not. I don't know how some people can have the sense of brain to stop and think that the EMT was cute, but to each their own way of thinking I suppose.
The people working grand moms case (the caseworker and social worker more than the doctors and nurses) spent the first couple days trying to drive mom further up a wall than her mother falling and having to go into the hospital already were, by continually doing stupid things. thankfully they've caught the hint and stopped being as stupid as they were being, mostly.
Grand-moms now been moved from the hospital to a rehab, to get her physical therapy for her broken pelvic bone, and to generally monitor her other bumps and stuff and make sure they continue to mend. sadly it would seem that her mental state is worse for wear. part of it is stubbornness, and part of it is actual dementia. but my sister in laws went to visit her tonight and she didn't know the one, even though she's been in the family for a good 6 or 7 years, and she went to their wedding......
that'll just have to be taken a day at a time, that's all we can do.
Mom has Pneumonia again, joy. thankfully her doctor's quick about getting patients in, and taking care of things like that, (it doesn't hurt that mom's an RN, and could spot the signs before it got too bad) so she's already got her antibiotics, and whatnot to get rid of it, and hopefully it'll be well on its way, if not gone by the time we leave to go to my brothers for thanksgiving which would be nice.
We got a new "toy" for cooking. it's this thing that bakes cake pops. so far we've made a french toast like batter, that you roll in a cinnamon and sugar mix which was pretty good, but very rich. we also made little blueberry muffin balls using this muffin mix which came out really nice. we'll see what happens when we try it out down at my brothers house where we're going for Thanksgiving, since we're gonna take it with us, maybe we'll get some better action pictures, since the ones we took Saturday morning are rather blurred.
I had fun tonight gathering supplies for that, sprinkles, and chocolate to melt for coatings. I went to pull out the food coloring in case we decided to make some colored coatings......

Thankfully I was wearing a navy blue shirt when I realized that all the food coloring had to be washed off, cause they'd leaked since the last time we used them.
I cleared out the pictures on my phone last night and found alot of pictures I'd forgotten I had in my phone, or at all for that matter.

That is my nephew Linus, about a year and a half ago (making him 1 and 1/2-2 years old) I suppose. that is a sesame street ball pit that we had for a short while. he took it upon himself to drag that thing from the main room of the basement, into that bedroom himself, and drag the pillow and his blanket there as well. all I actually did was help him get the pillow to lay straight under his head and tuck his blanket around him.
he was quite happy, and stayed there and actually did fall asleep and have a nap there, all on his own, which was difficult most of the time then.
now I'm beat. while I'm irritated at commercialism having more or less squashed thanksgiving in their stampede to Christmas shopping, I almost wish it were over and done with now, and I could sleep for a week.
